Breastfeeding can be hard!
Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies of Palm Beach County has a Breastfeeding Support Program to help make breastfeeding easier:
- Certified Breastfeeding Counselors will answer your questions or concerns regarding breastfeeding
- This program isĀ not a medical service
- The goal is to give families education, encouragement, support, and connection to make sure your breastfeeding experience is successful!

- How do I know if my baby is getting enough milk?
- The best way to tell if your baby is getting enough milk is weight gain, along with daily wet and poo diapers
- You can expect to see a daily increase in number of poo diapers, by day 4 up to baby’s first month you should see at least 2 or more.
- If you are worried your baby is not getting enough milk, call their doctor.
- How long should I breastfeed?
- The American Academy of Pediatrics and the World Health Organization recommend only breastfeeding for at least the first 6 months.
- Both also say that breastfeeding for a year or more is good for your baby.
- How long can I keep my breastmilk in the refrigerator?
- Stored milk can last 6 months-1 year in the freezer.
- Milk can last up to 4 days in the fridge.
- Milk can last up to 4 hours at room temperature.
