Breastfeeding can be hard!

Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies of Palm Beach County has a Breastfeeding Support Program to help make breastfeeding easier:

  • Certified Breastfeeding Counselors will answer your questions or concerns regarding breastfeeding
  • This program is not a medical service
  • The goal is to give families education, encouragement, support, and connection to make sure your breastfeeding experience is successful!

How to Join:

  • Certified Breastfeeding Counselors are available to meet virtually or by phone

  • 9:00am-4:00pm

  • How do I know if my baby is getting enough milk?
    • The best way to tell if your baby is getting enough milk is weight gain, along with daily wet and poo diapers
    • You can expect to see a daily increase in number of poo diapers, by day 4 up to baby’s first month you should see at least 2 or more.
    • If you are worried your baby is not getting enough milk, call their doctor.
  • How long should I breastfeed?
    • The American Academy of Pediatrics and the World Health Organization recommend only breastfeeding for at least the first 6 months.
    • Both also say that breastfeeding for a year or more is good for your baby.
  • How long can I keep my breastmilk in the refrigerator?
    • Stored milk can last 6 months-1 year in the freezer.
    • Milk can last up to 4 days in the fridge.
    • Milk can last up to 4 hours at room temperature.
