Financial Assistance for Families in Restaurant Industry

The Children of Restaurant Employees (CORE) provides support to food and beverage service employees, with children who are experiencing financial hardship due to an illness or medical emergency.

The support comes in the form of financial assistance, some expenses covered include

  • Rent or mortgage
  • Utilities
  • Funeral expenses
  • Medical bills/supplies
  • Therapy
  • Hospital expenses
  • Child needs
  • Childcare costs

The eligibility for the CORE grant includes

  • Must have at least one parent/legal guardian working in the food & beverage service industry (full or part-time), AND;
  • Must have at least one minor child living in the home (Children up to 22 may be acceptable only if they are currently enrolled in college. Families who have adult children who are medically dependent on their parents due to physical or intellectual disability may also apply), AND;
  • Must be experiencing at least one of the following qualifying circumstances within 6 months of the application date: Significant medical diagnosis or injury of a parent/legal guardian or child OR
  • Injury or accident of a parent/legal guardian or child OR
  • Death of an immediate family member (child or parent/legal guardian) OR
  • Loss of life or home due to fire, flood, hurricane, or other natural disaster OR
  • House fire OR
  • Documented domestic violence.
